The Explorer nameplate has been around for decades, perhaps most notably with its appearance in the 1993 Jurassic Park film. Unlike the dinosaurs in the movie, the new Explorer is electric so there will be one more reason for T-Rex to show their teeth.
Dino's aside, the new Explorer is modern and refined with a decent boot which can hold multiple suitcases and there is plenty of room in the second row for 3 adults or 2 child seats secured into the isofix points. The front cabin is shared with the Capri, so there is a portrait screen which pivots and acts as a locked box. There are 3 trim levels, with the entry level Style model priced from £33,785. The Capri name may be controversial to use on an electric crossover. Name aside, the Capri is a large comfortable electric vehicle which is sharply styled and is available in rear or all wheel drive. There are 3 trim levels available, Style, Select and Premium. Prices start at £35,985 for an entry level RWD in Style trim. Ford's electric Mustang debuted at the Mach-E, this is the GT model which is a high performance SUV. Priced from £74,460 and capable of 310 miles claimed range whilst boasting 480 bhp. The Mach-E features 2 boots, the rear boot boasts 402 litres of boot space whilst its frunk can hold 81 litres. Acceleration is strong in this performance variant, boasting a mid 3 seconds to 60mph. The interior boasts a large portrait touchscreen, which controls most of the cars functions, whilst a smaller 10" drivers display provides vital information to the driver - within the field of view. Ford has brought back the iconic Capri nameplate and for 2025 you can pick yourself up a Ford Capri. This new generation of Capri shares its underpinnings with the Ford Explorer EV. The new Capri is available as a rear wheel or all wheel drive vehicle and there are a variety of battery sizes to choose from. My test car is a RWD long range using a 77 kWh battery that promises 390 miles of claimed range. The Capri is priced from £42,075, as of April 2025. Ford Explorer EV Review
I have experienced the all new 2024 Ford Explorer EV. This is a new model for Ford in the UK, bringing back a nameplate that has been away from the UK market for over two decades. The new Explorer is an electric only vehicle that shares its underpinnings with the Volkswagen ID4. At launch the Explorer is available with a 77 kWh battery and is available in Select or Premium trims. Other variants will be available further down the line. Beyond the chunky aesthetics of the new Explorer, the interior has been designed to consider everyday life. With a moveable central screen, a HUGE central cubby which can be divided up and the boot space is a decent size which has a boxy shape. Check out the video on the Cars of Glasgow YouTube channel.
