Worx WX092.9 Cordless Tyre Inflator
Say goodbye to tangled wires and complicated setups with a cordless tyre inflator. Worx, already known for impressing us with its cordless pressure washer and vacuum cleaner, hits the mark again with the WX092.9 Cordless Tyre Inflator.
What really stands out is how fast it inflates a tyre. Bringing a tyre from 30 psi to the recommended 32 psi took less than a minute—and the inflator automatically stopped once the correct pressure was reached. Many other models take several minutes just to add the same amount of air.
Key Features
The digital LED display shows the exact PSI and lets you pre-set the recommended pressure for your tyres or inflatables, ensuring accurate inflation every time.
With a maximum output of 150 PSI, the WX092 is ideal for quickly inflating car tyres, sports balls, and other small inflatables.
Equipped with a bright LED light, the WX092 makes it easy to see in the dark. It also features red and yellow SOS emergency lights to illuminate your workspace and provide added safety.
The inflator automatically stops when the set pressure is reached, preventing over-inflation and protecting your tyres or inflatables.
Why I would recommend: The WX092 includes a 3-foot high-pressure hose for extended reach and three onboard adapters, suitable for tyres, sports equipment, and air mattresses.
Cycplus AL7 Tyre Inflator
Designed for a wide range of applications, from vehicle tyres and bikes to sports equipment and inflatables. The AL7 is a go‑anywhere solution for roadside emergencies, travel, and daily tyre maintenance.
Key Features:
Digital LED Display: Shows real‑time pressure and lets you pre‑set your target pressure for accurate inflation.
Various attachments to inflate sports equipment and tyres.
A light to illuminate an area.
Portable and compact design.
Built‑in high‑capacity lithium battery lets you inflate tyres without needing a car socket or mains power, making it truly portable.
Charge using a USB C cable.
Why I would recommend: For those looking for a portable tyre inflator which can inflate tyres without being required to be plugged in.

AstroAI Digital Tyre Inflator
The AstroAI comes in as the most affordable compressor in my test, however it doesn’t skimp on features. It boasts a digital display, auto shut-off, and even a built-in work light, perfect for night-time use. One quirk: the light can’t be switched off and turns on automatically when the 12V cable is plugged in. The large digital display shows your tyre’s pressure in real time, making it easier to get an accurate reading. Say goodbye to the common errors often seen with dial-style tyre pumps.
Although the pump is on the noisy side, it was 15 seconds faster than the RAC pump in our tests. On the downside, the gauge under-reported pressure by 2 PSI, and its cable storage can be frustrating to manage.
Why I would recommend: The AstroAI tyre pump is ideal for those on a budget, looking for the basics to be covered.
AA 12v Digital Tyre Inflator
Keep your vehicle tyres, sports equipment, and inflatables perfectly inflated with the AA Digital Air Compressor. This compact, 12V air compressor delivers a maximum pressure of 120 PSI, making it an essential tool for every driver and household.
Key Features: Fast and Simple to Use. No more trips to the petrol station, simply plug the compressor into your car’s 12V socket using the 3-meter cord, select your desired pressure, and let it do the work. With multiple pressure units available (PSI, BAR, and KPA), you can inflate with precision and confidence every time.
The AA Digital Air Compressor isn’t just for tyres. It comes with a range of adapters to inflate sports balls, air beds, inflatable toys, and more, giving you one solution for multiple tasks.
Set your target pressure and the compressor will automatically shut off when reached, preventing over-inflation and keeping your items safe.
Equipped with a built-in LED lamp, the compressor provides three modes: steady light, flash, and SOS. Perfect for night-time emergencies or roadside situations.
Compact, reliable, and multifunctional, the AA Digital Air Compressor is the ultimate tool for anyone who values convenience, safety, and efficiency.
Why I would recommend: Simple and compact design, from a well known company.

CaRsun C1399-1 Tire Inflator
One of the more affordable tyre inflators from my test. The CaRsun showcases bright yellow accents and a plug for the 12v power outlet in your car.
Key Features:
Digital read out
Compact design
Why I would recommend: For those looking for a budget friendly and easy to use plug-in tyre inflator.
Why Every Driver Should Keep a Tyre Inflator in the Car
There’s nothing more frustrating than getting a flat tyre or seeing a low tyre pressure warning when you’re nowhere near a service station. Having a portable tyre inflator in your vehicle can turn a potential roadside disaster into a minor inconvenience — it might even save you from being stranded.
What Are Tyre Inflators and How Do They Work?
Tyre inflators are compact, portable devices that pump air into car or motorcycle tyres. Most models plug directly into your car’s 12V cigarette lighter socket, and many digital inflators automatically shut off when your tyre reaches the desired pressure. The best models feature accurate, easy-to-read digital displays or pressure gauges, making it simple to maintain optimal tyre pressure.
Is It Worth Buying a Tyre Inflator?
Absolutely. The biggest advantage of owning a portable inflator is peace of mind: in the event of a slow puncture, you can reinflate your tyre within minutes instead of changing to a spare wheel or waiting for roadside assistance. But the benefits don’t stop there.
Enhanced Safety
Tyres that are under-inflated can make your car harder to handle and increase stopping distances. Over-inflated tyres can also pose risks, potentially causing blowouts. Maintaining the correct tyre pressure improves vehicle stability and safety for everyone on the road.
Increased Fuel Efficiency
Under-inflated tyres increase the contact area with the road, making your engine work harder and burn more fuel. Keeping tyres at the recommended pressure not only improves handling but also reduces fuel consumption, saving money over time. Plus, a portable inflator is lightweight and easy to store, unlike heavy power tools or jacks.
Longer Tyre Life
Properly inflated tyres wear more evenly. Under-inflated tyres place more stress on the outer edges of the tread, causing premature wear and reducing their lifespan. Regularly checking and inflating tyres can extend tyre life, helping you get the most value from your investment. Of course, any damaged or excessively worn tyres should be replaced immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions About Tyre Pressure
What is the correct tyre pressure for my car?
Tyre pressure varies depending on your vehicle’s size, weight, and the tyres fitted by the manufacturer. To ensure your safety, and the safety of others on the road, it is important to follow the recommended tyre pressure provided by your car manufacturer.
Where can I find my tyre pressure information?
You can usually find the recommended tyre pressure in one of several places:
A sticker on the door sill
Inside the fuel flap
In your vehicle handbook
If you can’t locate it, contact your car manufacturer or a local garage for guidance. In the meantime, a general safe range for many vehicles is between 31 and 32 PSI, but it’s best to confirm the exact value for your car.
