New for 2026, BMW are showcasing technology and design with their latest generation of BMW iX3.
Should you buy a used BMW i8? That might be the question you are asking yourself in 2026. A once 6-figure hybrid sports car can now be purchased for around £20,000. I tested out this 2017 model to re-discover what the i8 offers. The i8 is a plug-in hybrid, which was a rather novel concept when it launched in 2014. It uses a 1.5l 3 cylinder petrol engine, a close relation to one found in the Mini Cooper of the time, and it is paired to dual electric motors. The total power output is 360 bhp and 420 lb ft of torque, enabling a 0-62mph time of 4.4 seconds. The construction of the i8 is worth mentioning as it constructed from a carbon fibre and aluminium, which in turn aided in the 1,535kg kerb weight. The interior is very plush and feels solid, even after almost a decade of use. BMW dubbed the interior options as 'world', so you are able to choose from a variety of colour schemes on the interior. Thanks to HB Autos for the loan of this BMW i8 for this video.

The BMW M3 has been a benchmark as a performance saloon car for decades, going back to the 1980's with the E30. This G80 generation proved controversial initially with its large kidney grilles. The G80 M3 is available in a multitude of guises, with this Competition model sitting in the middle of the line up between base and CS. The M3 Competition uses a twin turbo 3.0 litre inline 6 cylinder petrol engine, capable of reaching 60mph in sub 4 seconds. This rear wheel drive M3 Comp produces 503 bhp, whilst the Xdrive variant adds another 20bhp. Weight comes in at 1,730kg whilst the top speed is limited to 155 mph.
