I lived with the Chery Tiggo 7 for a week, to see if the most affordable PHEV on sale in the UK currently is worth considering. The Tiggo 7 showed up at my door wearing 'Chery Red' paint and my test car is in the range topping Summit trim. Chery make life easy for consumers offering an entry level Aspire trim then this range topping model with everything rolled into one trim package. You really only need to decide which paint you want. The T7 PHEV offers over 50 miles of electric range, which you can top up at a rapid charger or home charger as well as forcing the petrol engine to put juice back into your battery. Acceleration is strong and the T7 is front wheel drive only in the UK, I experienced some wheel spin on our wet Scottish tarmac.
Most of the cars systems are accessed through the central touchscreen, which offers wireless Apple CarPlay. With prices starting from just under £30,000 it is certainly an attractive package. Check out the full video on YouTube.
Chery has not long launched in the UK market, however they are already making a splash with their Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 models. The Tiggo 9 is their flagship, a large 3-row SUV available solely in their top of the range 'Summit' trim. I test drove the plug-in hybrid variant, which is priced from £43,105.
The Tiggo 9 boasts 91 miles of claimed electric range and over 650 miles of combined driving range. Power delivery is seamless and acceleration not only feels quick but is quick, with a claimed 0-60mph time of the mid 5 seconds range.
The interior is plush with initial impressions being positive about the materials used. Most of the car functions are controlled through a large touchscreen, which has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The first 2-rows are perfect for adults or growing teens, with the 3-row being better suited for children as head room and legroom is tight.
The Chery Tiggo 9 certainly shouldn't be overlooked if you are in the market for a 3-row vehicle. Check out the full video on the CarsofGlasgow YouTube channel.
